Installation Guide
A long-lasting South Florida install is built in layers. The base matters as much as the turf, especially for drainage in rainy season.
The Layers
What Goes Under the Turf
- Existing soil: Excavate 3 to 4 inches and remove sod, roots and debris. Level and compact.
- Weed barrier (optional): Fabric to keep weeds from coming up through the base.
- 3" to 4" compacted Class II road base: Graded with a slight slope for drainage and compacted in lifts.
- Artificial turf: Rolled out with the grain facing the main viewing angle, seamed and secured at the edges.
- Infill: About 1 to 2 lbs per square foot for most landscape turf, brushed in. Use OdorZorb for pet areas.
South Florida Tips
Plan drainage for summer downpours. Slope the base away from the house and pool, and never install over areas that hold standing water without correcting the grade.

Turf can go over concrete and pavers with the right drainage. Ask us about pads and adhesive for hardscape installs.
